The Russian military shelled a residential building in Veletynske in the Kherson region, resulting in the death of a 73-year-old woman and injuries to another person.
This information was reported by Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the regional military administration.
«The Russian army shelled a residential building in Veletynske, trapping two people under the rubble», – the statement revealed.
As previously mentioned, the 73-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries, and her body was extracted from under the collapsed house by the State Emergency Service. Another local resident, aged 50, was successfully rescued and subsequently hospitalized with injuries to her leg and back.
The regional prosecutor’s office has initiated a pre-trial investigation into the incident. The focus is on criminal proceedings related to the violation of the laws and customs of war, coupled with premeditated murder.
According to the ongoing investigation, on January 1st, at approximately 11:10 a.m., the Russian army targeted one of the settlements in the Bilozerska community with artillery, resulting in the destruction of a private house.
The body of the deceased 73-year-old woman was recovered from the rubble, and her 50-year-old daughter, who sustained injuries, was promptly handed over to medical professionals for treatment.
