As a consequence of the evening shelling in Kharkiv, a Russian missile destroyed a school in the Osnovianskyi district.
This was reported by Hromadske Radio’s Kharkiv correspondent Anna Chernenko:
«Regarding the evening shelling, one of the secondary schools in the Osnoviansk district was destroyed. This marks the second time this school has been hit. The first incident occurred on March 16, 2022, when another building was struck, and the debris had not yet been fully cleared. This time, they targeted a newer part of the school, destroying classrooms and the sports hall, with the wall and roof taking significant damage».
Chernenko mentioned that there is a several-meter-long crater filled with water at the impact site. Authorities are currently checking whether it is groundwater or if the water supply system was cut off. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in the shelling.
«Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in Kharkiv, 112 educational institutions have been damaged to varying degrees», – added the correspondent.
According to Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Russian troops shelled over 15 settlements in Kharkiv region with artillery and mortars in the past day, resulting in a woman being wounded in Vovchansk.
«Over 15 localities in Kharkiv region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Okhrymivka, Chuhuky, and Vovchansk: Okhrymivka, Chuhuiv district; Bolohivka, Dvorichanske, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Kupyansk district», – the statement said.
On January 2, at around 12:00, Russian troops fired on the village of Liptsi in Kharkiv district. At 13:47 and 14:30, they attacked the town of Vovchansk in Chuhuiv district, resulting in two houses being destroyed and damaged, and a 65-year-old woman being wounded.
At 21:30, a house was damaged as a result of shelling in Kupyansk.
Regarding the wounded in the attacks on Kharkiv, the head of the military administration informed that 28 people are in medical institutions in the city, including 4 children. Two adults remain in serious condition.
According to Syniehubov, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 12 Russian attacks in the last 24 hours near Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka in Kupyansk district.
As of the morning of January 3, 62 people were reported injured in Kharkiv as a result of a massive Russian missile attack that occurred on the previous day, January 2, in the morning.
