Over the past two years, there has been a significant surge in the number of cancer patients in the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine, including a concerning rise among children.
This was reported by the Eastern Human Rights Group.
According to the group’s findings, during the period of 2022-2023, there was a notable increase in cancer cases among local residents in the Russian-occupied Luhansk and Donetsk regions. This alarming trend is attributed to a shortage of medical workers and oncologists in clinics, with a lack of initiatives for cancer prevention and diagnosis.
The report also highlights a distinct issue: in addition to adults, there has been a sharp increase in cancer cases among children, particularly those associated with blood diseases, such as blood cancer.
