The Rada has passed a draft law on mobilization in the first reading

At a meeting on February 7, the Verkhovna Rada supported the government’s draft law No. 10449 on strengthening mobilization in its first reading, with 243 MPs voting in favor.

This was reported by Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a representative of the Voice faction.

«The bill was adopted without any proposals from the specialized committee. The next step involves introducing amendments within 14 days, until February 21, for the second reading. It is anticipated that the bill will likely be adopted in its entirety in the last week of February, signed in early March, and come into effect in April», — commented the MP.

Zheleznyak also disclosed the results of the vote by faction:

  • Servant of the People: 178
  • European Solidarity: 0
  • Batkivshchyna: 0
  • Platform for Life and Peace (former OPFL): 17
  • For the Future: 7
  • Holos: 3
  • Dovira: 18
  • Restoration of Ukraine: 12
  • Non-factional: 8

Roll-call voting details are not available on the Verkhovna Rada’s website.

As of January 30, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine had approved and submitted an updated version of the draft law on mobilization to the Verkhovna Rada. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets raised concerns, stating that the new draft law on mobilization contains unconstitutional provisions.
