Zaporizhzhia region continues to endure daily shelling from Russian forces, with our correspondent Alisa Sysoyeva providing an update on the current situation in both the government-controlled and temporarily occupied parts of the region on Hromadske Radio.
«Presently, Zaporizhzhia itself remains relatively calm, but the surrounding region continues to face persistent shelling. Not a day goes by without the enemy targeting frontline cities and the territory of Zaporizhzhia district. Today alone, 199 attacks were recorded. Thankfully, there were no casualties, but civilian infrastructure has suffered significant damage», — as reported by Sysoyeva.
The majority of Zaporizhzhia region has been under occupation since the onset of the full-scale invasion, leading to increasingly challenging conditions, particularly in the healthcare sector.
«Regrettably, the situation in the occupied territories shows little improvement. The medical conditions there are catastrophic. Over the two years of invasion and occupation, the Russians have not only failed to provide sufficient medical care but have also pillaged existing resources. In Berdiansk, for instance, locals report the absence of new medical transport, replaced by vehicles known as «Bukhankas». The city’s medical equipment has been taken away, compelling residents to seek healthcare in annexed Crimea or Donetsk. Additionally, there is a severe shortage of medications for conditions such as diabetes. Moreover, while previously a Russian passport was a requirement for medical care, today even an ambulance will not attend to a person without one», — as mentioned by the correspondent.
