Shelling of Dnipro: occupants damaged a thermal power plant and a pumping station

As a result of Russian shelling in Dnipro on the night of February 13, some residents experienced disruptions in water and electricity supply.

Hromadske Radio’s correspondent in Dnipro, Olha Zhuravel, reported that the regional center’s residents faced a challenging night, enduring an air raid alert that lasted over two hours.

«We received warnings about drones approaching from the Kherson direction, followed by a batch of attack drones from the Zaporizhzhia direction, along with missiles. There were multiple explosions. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the infrastructure and energy facilities sustained damage», — Zhuravel shared.

She confirmed that the Russian attack damaged the local thermal power plant, causing it to cease electricity production. Despite power engineers gradually restoring its functionality, significant damage occurred due to the fire.

«Parts of the area were left without water and electricity. Besides the thermal power plant, the pumping station ceased operation due to power outages. Many consumers experienced flickering lights, particularly on the left bank of the Dnipro. While water supply has been partially restored, power engineers and utilities are actively working to repair the damage. However, it remains uncertain when they will fully restore water and electricity supply».

As reported, on the night of February 13, Russian troops attacked the Dnipro region with attack drones. Although air defense forces successfully shot down 10 «Shaheds», there were still several hits in Dnipro.
