Foreign Ministry responds to anti-Ukrainian rallies in Poland: statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine deems anti-Ukrainian actions in Poland unacceptable. Incidents such as the scattering of Ukrainian grain and the farmers’ demonstration in Wroclaw are seen as violations of the principles of Ukrainian-Polish solidarity.

This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko.

«These actions, along with the blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border, not only inflict numerous losses on the Ukrainian economy, already suffering from Russian aggression, but also breach the principles of Ukrainian-Polish solidarity. Ukrainians sacrifice their lives for Polish and other European cities to live in peace. This should neither be forgotten nor taken for granted», — Nikolenko commented.

He emphasized that any «attempts to weaken Ukraine’s economy with radical or anti-market measures will not only undermine the ability to deter Russian aggression but also create additional threats to Poland’s security and well-being».

«Ukraine is deeply grateful to both the Polish authorities and Polish citizens for their support and assistance during these two years of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The Ukrainian side has always advocated a constructive approach to resolving issues related to the transit of Ukrainian grain and trade.

We expect that the Polish authorities will maintain a similar approach, including addressing the effective prevention of illegal actions against Ukrainian cargo and providing a proper response to rhetoric that harms bilateral relations», — the Foreign Ministry spokesman added.

He expressed his belief that any attempts to undermine the foundation of solidarity between countries and peoples will not succeed.

«Ukraine is determined to strengthen relations of friendship and mutual respect with Poland, with which it shares a common European future», — Oleg Nikolenko concluded.
