Johnson, Trudeau, Von der Leyen: who arrived in Kyiv on the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion

On the second anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, the prime ministers of four G7 countries, the president of the European Commission, and the former prime minister of the United Kingdom arrived in Kyiv.

The dignitaries, including the prime ministers of Italy (Giorgia Meloni), Canada (Justin Trudeau), and Belgium (Alexander de Kroo), as well as the president of the European Commission (Ursula von der Leyen), arrived in Kyiv overnight by train from Poland to express solidarity with Ukraine on this significant occasion.

Later in the day, according to Reuters, George Meloni and others are expected to hold a video conference from Kyiv, attended by the leaders of the Group of Seven.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also arrived in Kyiv, expressing his honor to be in Ukraine on the second anniversary of the invasion.

«With their indomitable courage, I have no doubt that Ukrainians will prevail and drive out Putin’s forces—provided we give them the military, political, and economic assistance they need», — he stated

Justin Trudeau shared his thoughts, saying:

«Two years after the Russian regime launched its invasion of Ukraine, Canada’s support for the Ukrainian people remains unwavering. To reaffirm that support, I traveled to Kyiv with Chrystia Freeland and Bill Blair».
