«Ukrenergo», electricity transmission system operator of Ukraine, is actively gathering and presenting evidence of war crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine to the International Criminal Court.
This was reported by Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, CEO of «Ukrenergo», in an interview with Hromadske Radio.
Kudrytskyi emphasized the significance of the ICC’s decision, stating that it sends a clear signal to the Russian aggressors regarding the consequences for those responsible for planning and executing massive attacks on the Ukrainian power system.
«We must understand that the Russians aimed to completely disable the power grid, leading to severe consequences and suffering for millions of Ukrainians during the winter. Therefore, this is undoubtedly a crime against humanity», — Kudrytskyi remarked.
He further clarified that «Ukrenergo» is actively participating in the collection and submission of evidence to the International Criminal Court.
«We will continue this work, and I am confident that these two individuals are just the beginning. Many more people are likely involved in these attacks. I hope to see not only arrest warrants but also court verdicts», — added he on Hromadske Radio.
As reported, on March 5, the Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Russian Long-Range Aviation Commander Sergei Kobylash and Black Sea Fleet Commander Viktor Sokolov. They are suspected of war crimes, such as attacks on Ukrainian civilian objects, including energy system facilities, causing excessive harm to civilians, as well as crimes against humanity.
