Ukraine returns the bodies of 99 fallen defenders

On the afternoon of April 12, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War announced that Ukraine has successfully repatriated the bodies of 99 fallen soldiers who defended their homeland in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv sectors.

Of these, 77 bodies belonged to defenders from the Donetsk sector, 20 from the Zaporizhzhia sector, and two from the Kharkiv sector.

«The Armed Forces of Ukraine will transport the repatriated bodies and remains to designated state institutions. Representatives of law enforcement agencies and forensic experts will undertake the identification process. Once identified, the bodies of our defenders will be handed over to their families for burial», — stated the CPJCU in a release.

The successful repatriation of these fallen soldiers was made possible through the collaboration of the Coordination Headquarters with various entities including the Joint Centre of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Central Military Command), the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other representatives of Ukraine’s security and defense sector.

On March 29, Ukraine also returned the bodies and remains of 121 fallen defenders.
