Occupiers attacked energy facilities in six regions, severely damaged equipment at several thermal power plants

On the night of May 8, the enemy launched attacks on electricity generation and transmission facilities in six regions: Poltava, Kirovograd, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia. Equipment at three DTEK thermal power plants suffered severe damage.

This information was disclosed by Ukrainian Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko, on the morning of May 8.

«The enemy persists in its attempts to deprive Ukrainians of electricity. Each of us contributes to victory by conserving electricity. Responsible consumption, especially during morning and evening hours, is crucial», — he remarked regarding the nighttime assault.

Meanwhile, DTEK’s press service reported the damage inflicted on three of the company’s thermal power plants.

«It has been yet another tremendously challenging night for the Ukrainian energy sector. The enemy targeted three of our thermal power plants, resulting in significant equipment damage. Power engineers are currently engaged in rectifying the aftermath of the attack», — the company stated.

It is worth noting that this marks the fifth extensive shelling of the company’s energy facilities in the past month and a half. The occupiers launched attacks on DTEK’s thermal power plants during widespread assaults on March 22 and 29, as well as April 11 and 27.
