The Swiss Federal Department of Economics, Education, and Research has expanded its sanctions lists against Russia.
This is stated on the government’s website.
Switzerland has thus joined the additional sanctions lists adopted by the EU.
«In response to Russia’s ongoing military aggression against Ukraine, on June 24, the EU adopted new measures against Russia as part of the 14th sanctions package. In turn, the EAER will impose sanctions on another 69 individuals and 86 legal entities within its jurisdiction», — the statement said.
The sanctions target companies operating in the Russian defense sector, as well as those in the financial and trade sectors.
Additionally, Switzerland has imposed a ban on advertising for four Russian media outlets – Voice of Europe, RIA Novosti state agency, Izvestia, and Rossiyskaya Gazeta – «due to Russia’s continuous propaganda and disinformation campaigns.»
However, unlike the EU’s measures, these Russian media outlets are not subject to a broadcast ban in Switzerland.
According to the document, Switzerland has added a total of 2,200 individuals and companies to the sanctions lists against Russia.
