Germany is allocating €10 million to rebuild the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, which was damaged by a Russian missile attack on July 8, 2024.
This was reported by Deutsche Welle with reference to the Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze.
“We must not and will not accept the fact that this place of healing for children with cancer no longer exists in Ukraine», — Svenja Schulze said.
The allocated funds are aimed at the rapid resumption of the hospital’s work and the preparation of the building for use in winter. This includes the repair and maintenance of the hospital’s facades, treatment rooms, as well as electricity and heat supply.
According to Schulze, the destruction of the children’s hospital shows “how ruthlessly and inhumanely Russia is waging this aggressive war.” The minister also added that children suffer the most from Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
