The Ministry of Defence will expand the range of equipment available for the military. Technical specifications are currently being developed for baseball caps, knee pants, turnstile pouches, and tablets.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defence press service on Wednesday, September 25. This decision was made based on a survey of military personnel conducted by the Defence Procurement Policy Department in July and August, in conjunction with the Logistics Forces Command.
“The war is changing, the needs are changing, and we are listening to the servicemen. During the survey, they expressed specific wishes regarding the equipment they lack. We will take this into account», — said Deputy Defence Minister Dmytro Klimenkov.
According to him, the Armed Forces’ needs for uniforms, bulletproof vests, and helmets “are almost completely covered, and the supply is being fulfilled with existing stocks.” However, the military believes that additional items should also be issued. These include demi-season jackets (windbreakers), single individual tents, pouches for tablets and turnstiles, military baseball caps, and tactical sneakers.
In addition, the Ministry of Defence has decided to merge its procurement agencies—the Defence Procurement Agency (DPA) and the State Logistics Operator (SLO)—into one enterprise. This process is currently in its final stages, as Minister Rustem Umerov told LB.ua.
“We are now finalizing the process of creating a joint agency (AOZ and DOT). The [launch] will follow immediately after the appointment of a supervisory board,” he said.
Both enterprises were established before Umerov took over the Defence Ministry. AOZ, which is responsible for procuring weapons, was registered in June 2022 and is headed by Maryna Bezrukova. DOT was registered in November 2022 and is led by Arsen Zhumadilov.
