Energoatom: UAV flew at critically low altitude near Rivne NPP at night

On the night of 25 September, another attack drone was detected flying at a critically low altitude near the industrial site of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

This was reported by the press service of Energoatom.

«Once again, Russian troops are posing a threat to the nuclear safety of Ukrainian NPPs. Energy terror is one of the enemy’s warfare tactics, and it must be stopped as soon as possible», — Energoatom stated.

It was noted that Energoatom informs the relevant institutions about each such incident.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims that Russia is prepared to attack three Ukrainian nuclear power plants. According to him, Ukraine has relevant evidence.

«If Russia is ready to go this far, it means that nothing of value matters to Moscow. This cynicism will continue if you allow it», — Zelenskyy said.

In this context, the President referred to the «formula for peace.» He believes that it can safeguard the UN Charter.

«This war must end not because someone will make sacrifices and concessions to Putin, but because the UN Charter must function. Our right to self-defense must prevail», — Zelenskyy added.

The President also mentioned that «some states» have suggested meeting with Putin. At the same time, he does not understand what they expect to hear from the Russian leader.

«That he’s upset we are exercising our right to defend our people? Or that he wants to continue the war and terror to avoid admitting his mistakes? It’s madness.»

The day before, Zelenskyy accused Russia of using Chinese satellites to photograph Ukrainian nuclear power plants, potentially as part of preparations for strikes.

Polish President Andrzej Duda also warned of the danger of Russian strikes on Ukrainian nuclear power plants, stating that this must be considered and responded to appropriately if necessary.

«If, God forbid, Russia causes a nuclear disaster at one of our power plants, radiation won’t respect national borders. Unfortunately, many nations could suffer from the devastating consequences», — Zelenskyy previously warned.

Duda pointed out that Russia has already attacked the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the inactive Chernobyl NPP. Fortunately, these incidents did not result in a nuclear disaster.

«There is a danger of attacks on other power plants, whether in Rivne or Khmelnytskyi, and we must take this into account. If such attacks occur, we will need to intervene immediately and call in experts», — Duda said.

As a reminder, on September 12, the Seim River was once again polluted with organic matter, which has now reached the Desna River. However, as it moves downstream, the water quality is improving. It is expected to be cleared in 2-3 weeks.
