U.S. Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris has stated that she would not agree to a bilateral meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to negotiate the war he has waged against Ukraine.
She made this remark during an interview with CBS News.
«Not on a bilateral basis without Ukraine. Ukraine should have a say in the future of Ukraine», — Harris said.
Harris also emphasized that the U.S. continues to support Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russian aggression.
«If Donald Trump were president, Putin would be sitting in Kyiv right now. He’s talking about, «Oh, he can end this in one day.» Do you know what that means? It means surrender», — Harris added.
When asked about Ukraine’s potential NATO membership, Harris responded:
«These are issues we will address if and when it comes to that.»
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the coming months would be crucial in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
In September, Zelensky met with U.S. President Joe Biden and Democratic Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris, presenting them with a plan for Ukraine’s victory. He also intended to present the same plan to Donald Trump.
During this visit, the U.S. provided Ukraine with a significant military aid package worth $7.9 billion.
As a reminder, the agreement for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine will not be extended. This will be done despite the «acute dependence» of some countries on Russian resources. This statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a joint press conference with his Slovak counterpart.
