As a result of ballistic missile strikes in Odesa Region, 10 people were injured, with six remaining in serious condition.
This was reported on Hromadske Radio by Yulia Afanasyeva, a correspondent in Odesa:
«At the moment, we know of 10 injured victims. Six of them are still in serious condition.»
The death toll from the ballistic missile attacks has risen to seven. In the morning, a 46-year-old port worker succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
«Initially, the number of casualties was smaller. But today, unfortunately, the death toll from yesterday’s Russian attack has increased to seven. A 46-year-old port worker passed away in the hospital this morning», — Afanasyeva added.
This marks the fourth consecutive night that the Odesa region has come under attack. While previous nights saw the enemy using Shahed drones, this time the Russians launched ballistic missiles.
«Odesa has been under attack for four straight nights. In the previous three nights, the attacks were carried out using Shahed drones, but this time, they used ballistic missiles», — Afanasyeva explained.
There were two alerts during the night related to the ballistic threat. During each, there were loud explosions. After the second missile strike, windows in houses within a 5-kilometer radius burst open, and the houses shook violently. Residents of the Tairovsky district and Chornomorsk, where the missile hit the port infrastructure, heard the explosions.
«There were two alarms. During the first, residents of Tairovsky district and Chornomorsk heard a loud explosion, but it was unclear what had happened. Shortly after the first alarm ended, there was another alert followed by a second, equally loud explosion. Windows in homes up to 5 kilometers away burst open, and houses shook. It became clear that the second missile strike had hit the port infrastructure in Chornomorsk», — Afanasyeva reported.
Compared to previous nights, when Shahed drone attacks caused alarms lasting up to 4-5 hours, the ballistic missile alerts were shorter, lasting about 40 minutes.
«The alarms were relatively brief. Since it was a ballistic missile attack, it didn’t last as long as a Shahed drone strike, which can drag on for 4 or 5 hours. This time, the alerts lasted about 40 minutes», — Afanasyeva added.
During the attack, monitoring channels provided inaccurate information. During the second alert, they reported that the target had disappeared from the radar, but moments later, a loud explosion confirmed the second missile’s impact.
«This time, the monitoring channels provided misleading information. They announced that the target had disappeared from the radar during the second alert, but just a few seconds later, there was a loud explosion, marking the hit of the second missile», — Afanasyeva said.
One of the Russian missiles hit a vessel flying the Panamanian flag. Russia’s attempts to target port infrastructure have become increasingly common, including strikes on foreign-flagged vessels.
«This time, a missile hit a Panamanian-flagged ship and port infrastructure. Russia has frequently been targeting port infrastructure, and there have been periodic strikes on foreign-flagged vessels», — Afanasyeva noted.
In terms of the damage, the port infrastructure in Chornomorsk was significantly affected. This is not the first time buildings in the city have been damaged by Russian airstrikes. In previous nights, Shahed drone attacks caused fires in high-rise buildings.
«The port infrastructure in Chornomorsk was damaged. This isn’t the first time buildings in the city have been hit. On previous nights, there were fires in high-rise buildings due to Shahed drone strikes», — Afanasyeva said.
