What must be in a grant application and what should be avoided?
Director of development of Hromadske Radio, Petro Koshukov is in the Hromadske Radio’s studio, and a specialist of the program of psychosocial support, coordinator of organizational development of the International Medical Corps, Nadiya Tryshchuk.
Regrettably, the government of Ukraine cannot fully support the activities of non-governmental organizations, the studio’s guests say.
Petro Koshukov said that any application is based on four questions:
1. Why? (You formulate a problem)
2. What do you suggest doing? (You lay out the goal and tasks)
3. How? (You describe, step by step, what you are going to do)
4. When and for how much?
For a donor, as for the party which invests money, it is very important that this money is used, and the goal which an organization suggests is achieved, Oksana Kosenko stressed.
It is not too complicated for resettlers to receive a grant for entrepreneurship. At least, Olena Abayeva says so in journalist Valentyna CTroyan’s package. Olena came to Sumy in June 2014 from Donetsk where she worked for nine years as a lecturer. What to do in a new place? Life had prompted Olena the answer to this question. Her younger child, her son is a child with special needs. So Olena decided to create an institution for such children. This was how “Schastliviye deti” (Happy Children) psychology-and-rehabilitation center appeared in Sumy.
Nadiya Tryshchuk says the following in the studio: have three points in your grsant application where you will earn “pluses” in any case. It is about gender. As a rule, donors pay very much attention to women, especially when there’s a military conflict. Women must be reflected in your project. What is meant here is how women will be involved in materializing your project, how they will influence decisions taken in the course of work, how they will initiate any changes.
