De-mining the Kyiv region: over 300 thousand hectares need to be inspected, it'll require months of hard work

The Kyiv region will serve as a model for de-mining protocols, as other cities begin to their own de-mining operations, announced State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

«As of now, we need to survey more than 300,000 hectares. In cooperation with the Armed Forces and the National Police of Ukraine, we are actively working and doing everything to return people to their homes and restore livelihoods, «said Serhiy Kruk, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Kruk noted that this operation involves thousands of kilometers and will require months of hard work across the country.

As of March 23, the areas requiring humanitarian de-mining, including non-technical surveys, was at least 82,525 km2 in Ukraine.
