48 adults and 4 children are dead in Kramatorsk as a result of rocket attack by the russian army

Currently the known number of victims at the train station in Kramatorsk — 48 adults and 4 children, announced SBU spokesman Artem Dekhtyarenko.

The SBU has opened criminal proceedings following the attack.

«Currently, the actions of the occupiers are qualified under Article 438 of the Criminal Code, a violation of the laws and customs of war,» the statement said.

The rocket fired by the Russian’s landed in the stations lobby. There were about four thousand people at the station waiting to be evacuated when the shelling began. 

According to updated information, the Russians attacked the station in Kramatorsk using the tactical missile system OTR-21 Tochka, and not Iskander, said Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

«This does not change the nature of the crime, the Russians knew exactly where they were aiming and who the target was: peaceful civilians who were trying to leave Donetsk to safer regions in Ukraine,» Kyrylenko wrote.

Police and rescue crews are on the scene, he added.

Currently, the Kramatorsk railway station is closed for trains, all evacuations will now be departing from Slovyansk, Ukrainian Railways reports.

The Russian military is deliberately using OTR-21 Tochka to claim that Ukraine is the perpetrator of these attacks, as Ukraine has access to and uses some Soviet-era weapons. But the rocket that hit the station had inscriptions in Russian.

Two Russian missiles hit the Kramatorsk railway station in the morning of April 8.
