On April 28, Russian occupation forces fired on a site where civilian evacuations were to begin in Rubezhnoye, Luhansk Oblast.
Hromadske Radio correspondent Yanina Lvutyna was on the scene during the shelling.
«I think that the occupiers see everyone who comes to the Palace of Culture ‘South’ and that’s why they shot at us purposefully. As soon as we drove in, 5 minutes later they started bombing on the square where we were. We crawled out on our stomachs to the Palace of Culture to wait for the shelling to end. It was something crazy. We heard howling left, right, front, back. And the should of shells flying over the building. They heard that the ‘heavy’ mortar was working and understood that it was not a coincidence,» the journalist said.
Apart from Rubizhne, evacuations of residents of Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Hirska Communities and Popasna were planned for today, April 28.
According to the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Serhiy Haidai, 73 residents of the region have now been evacuated by evacuation buses: 27 from Popasna, 36 from Lysycha and 10 from Severodon.
