Due to the war, grain is becoming more expensive and everything will not be exported from Ukraine, thinks Analyst Oleksandr Holubov. He spoke about it on Hromadske Radio.
«Grain is there, it can be delivered. But earlier it was taken out of Ukrainian ports. Now part of ports is occupied, and it is impossible to take out from Odessa or Nikolaev because navigation in the Black Sea is blocked. Even for the island of Snake is a fierce struggle. Accordingly, it is absolutely impossible to take a ship out by civilian ships.
European colleagues are now considering the possibility of delivering grain to the Baltic ports. But here we run into a problem. They must first be transported by rail. Railway capacity is not as good as maritime transport. We have to take everything to the sea one way or another. It will be impossible for planes, because there will be golden grain,» said the expert.
According to him, the issue of food security in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine is currently being considered at the G7 level, with meetings with NATO foreign ministers. They discussed not only the supply of weapons, but also the theft of grain and the impossibility of exporting Ukrainian grain, which, fortunately, has not yet been stolen.
«Everyone understands that this grain will be more expensive, will be delivered later, and still, even with maximum effort, most likely, it will not be possible to export all products,» said the analyst.
