Every year on February 20, Ukraine commemorates the Heavenly Hundred Heroes. Between February 18 and 20, 2014, the security forces of Viktor Yanukovych’s regime killed 78 people in the center of Kyiv.

Following February 20, more than 20 additional protesters succumbed to injuries. One hundred and five Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, while three foreigners received posthumous recognition with the Order of the Heavenly Hundred.

On February 17, 2021, the Verkhovna Rada officially recognized the Revolution of Dignity as a pivotal moment in Ukrainian statehood.

Moreover, today marks the 10th anniversary of the beginning of the Russian armed invasion of Ukraine. On this day, a decade ago, the Russian army initiated its occupation of Crimea. Since then, the Ukrainian people have steadfastly fought every day for the right to a free and independent Ukraine.
