Energoatom has signed an agreement to design and build Shahed drone defenses for the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant. However, this agreement was reached only after President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech at the United Nations.
This information was reported by the Nashi Hroshi (Our Money – ed.) project, citing data from Prozorro.
«In other words, Zelenskyy had to state at the UN that the power equipment near Ukrainian NPPs is unprotected and is about to become a target for Russian missiles, prompting nuclear engineers to begin designing «second-level» protection», — the report notes.
It is mentioned that Energoatom signed an agreement worth UAH 509 million on September 25, 2024. The money are needed for the design and construction of a protective structure at the Rivne NPP.
The agreement involves reinforced concrete U-shaped structures that will protect large transformers from drones and debris in the event of an indirect missile strike.
Journalists also highlight that details of the contract for the Rivne NPP are completely undisclosed, with no information available about the size of the facility.
As a reminder, on the night of September 25, another flight of an attack drone was recorded at a critically low altitude near the industrial site of the Rivne NPP, as reported by Energoatom’s press service.
«Once again, Russian troops pose a threat to the nuclear safety of Ukrainian NPPs. Energy terror is one of the enemy’s tactics of warfare. However, it must be stopped as soon as possible», — Energoatom stated.
It is noted that Energoatom informs the relevant institutions about each such incident.
Also, President Volodymyr Zelensky’s victory plan will soon be presented to Ukrainians. This was stated by the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak during a national telethon. However, some details will remain undisclosed to prevent Russia from learning about them.
