The United States has reviewed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s victory plan and noted that it contains «productive steps.»
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated this during a briefing.
He added that the US will continue communicating with Ukraine regarding the actions outlined in the plan that other countries should take. Overall, he emphasized, many steps in the plan are productive.
Zelenskyy has said that the plan for Ukraine’s victory in the war is designed to ensure that partners make a series of swift decisions by the end of the year. According to him, the success of the plan hinges on this timeline.
«We would like that very much. Then we will believe that the plan will work», — he said.
The President of Ukraine also expressed his hope that the US President would support his plan. He emphasized that its success depends on the quick decisions made by partners between October and December of this year.
Zelenskyy also mentioned being asked about a Plan B, supposedly needed if President Biden does not support the «main victory plan.» He responded, «We are already in Plan B. We are living and fighting in it.»
The president clarified that Ukraine never had a Plan A. Such plan would have prevented a full-scale Russian invasion.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that President Joe Biden’s administration is reviewing Zelenskyy’s victory plan. Blinken made this statement on 27 September during a press conference in New York.
Earlier, during his visit to the United States, President Zelenskyy met with Joe Biden. The Ukrainian leader discussed the victory plan with his American counterpart.
«During the meeting with President Biden, I presented him with the Victory Plan. We discussed details to strengthen the plan, coordinated our positions, views, and approaches. We instructed our teams to hold consultations on the next steps.»
The Office of the President also noted that Biden would convene a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defence in Germany at the level of leaders. There, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States will meet bilaterally to review the progress of the consultations. They will also meet with international partners to coordinate additional assistance for Ukraine.
In addition, the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, mentioned during a national telethon that President Zelenskyy’s victory plan would soon be presented to the Ukrainian public. However, some details will remain undisclosed to prevent Russia from learning about them.
«Everything that becomes public is heard not only in our country but also by the enemy. Therefore, certain details of this plan are classified. But what matters most is to see this plan’s implementation on enemy territory, and to witness the victories of our military», — Yermak said.
He also noted that Zelenskyy had presented the plan to both US presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, as well as to Joe Biden and the US Congress.
At the same time, Yermak added that the Ukrainian president had discussed the plan with other international partners, including the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7).
