Media: Ramstein meeting postponed to another date

The meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defence (Ramstein format), originally scheduled for 12 October, has been postponed. A new date is currently being determined.

This was reported by Radio Liberty.

Earlier, a White House spokesperson announced that U.S. President Joe Biden had postponed his trip to Germany due to Hurricane Milton. It is expected to hit Florida in the near future. As a result, he will not be able to attend the Ramstein Summit on 12 October.

According to the spokesperson, Biden is postponing his planned trips to Germany and Angola «given the projected trajectory and strength of Hurricane Milton.» The U.S. president will remain in the country to oversee preparations and response efforts for Hurricane Milton, as well as to monitor ongoing recovery operations from Hurricane Helene, which recently impacted the southeastern U.S.

Biden had been expected to personally attend the 12 October meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defence, marking his first participation at the leaders’ level.

  • President Volodymyr Zelensky was planning to present a «victory plan» to Ukraine’s allies at the summit.

It is worth noting that the upcoming Ramstein summit had been initiated by Biden himself. He convened it to coordinate the efforts of over 50 countries that support Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression.
