We talk about how an innocent habit becomes an unbearable burden and how to get rid of it.

Recommendations and consultations of an Ukrainian and an American experts in psychology hopefully will come handy for those of us who are burdened with harmful habits.

Andriy Karachayevsky is in the studio, a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Chief Specialist of the Public Health Ministry in medical psychology and psychotherapy, and also Olha Zaporozhets, Dr in teaching psychology consutancy and supercision, a teacher at the Psychology Consultancy Chair at Regent University, Virginia Beach, USA, a licensed professional consultant, an expert in the field of chemical and behavioral addictions.

An addicted person can abstain for a year, still addiction remains, experts say. Addiction is a progressing disease. A person loses control over how much they consume and over how they behave during the stage of immersion. A change in life must happen in order to have recovery.

There are two kinds of addiction: strong addiction and light addiction. Swiss psychiatrist Samuel Pfeiffer says: most of us do have addictions. For instance if we find ourselves in a place where there’s no means of communication, many of us will feel uncomfortable. Valentyna Troyan prepared the interview with the psychiatrist for this broadcast.
