News from Ukraine on June 29, 2023: 72 victims in Kramatorsk, more men to be mobilised into the Armed Forces and new Shahed's attack

In the morning, on 29 June, the body of another victim was unblocked from the rubble in Kramatorsk. In total, 12 people died, including three children. Emergency rescue operations have been completed, reported by the State Emergency Service. 60 people (including a child) were injured. 11 people were rescued, 7 of them by the SES unit.

The Verkhovna Rada has shortened the list of citizens who can receive a deferral from military service. This provision was voted for in the draft law No. 9342 on additional payments and leave for the military. If President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signs the law into law, men who have relatives with disabilities will be able to be mobilised into the Armed Forces.

Until now, a person liable for military service could be deferred from mobilisation if he or she had a relative with a disability of group I or II, such as a spouse, parent or parent of a spouse. The same reason could also be the basis for discharge to the reserve if the person mobilised to the Armed Forces had such relatives.

Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed 10 of 13 Shahed-136/131 attack drones at night. Military and infrastructure facilities in Zaporizhzhia region were attacked. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.
