Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with «shaheds» and missiles

On the night of January 8, and in the morning, the Russian occupiers carried out another air attack on Ukraine. They used attack drones and missiles.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers attacked Ukraine at night, using 8 Shahed-136/131 attack drones. All enemy drones were destroyed.

Air strikes were carried out against: Sinkivka, Petropavlivka, Berestove in Kharkiv Oblast; Serebryanske Forestry in Luhansk Oblast; Kolodyazi, Torske, Dibrova, Druzhba, Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, Georgiivka, Krasnohorivka, Vodiane in Donetsk Oblast; Krynky, Respublika, Zmiivka, Krasny Mayak in Kherson Oblast.

About 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

In the morning, Russia launched missiles towards Ukraine.

In the Kharkiv region, the Russians struck the regional centre at least four times. Experts are still establishing the type of weaponry, said the head of the regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

A private house was hit in Zmiiv, Chuhuiv district.

Medics are treating two victims, and according to preliminary data, two more people are under the rubble.

In Kharkiv, Russians attacked industrial facilities in the city, causing a fire. One person was injured. The fire is being extinguished by rescuers, and medics are working with the injured person, Mayor Igor Terekhov wrote.

The Russians also attacked the regional centre of Zaporizhzhia region, with casualties. Specialised services have begun to work on the ground, said Anatoliy Kurtev, secretary of the city council.

Yuriy Malashko, the head of the regional military administration, said that it was a combined attack with cruise and ballistic missiles from different directions. A total of 5 explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia.

«At 07:00, Zaporizhzhia woke up to a missile attack by the Russians. As a result of a combined attack of cruise and ballistic missiles from different directions, a total of 5 explosions occurred in the regional centre. It is known that the missiles hit residential areas – in open areas and near houses. As of 08:00, two people have been reported injured as a result of the rocket attack – a man and a woman. Operational and rescue services are working at the sites of the attacks.

In the Mykolaiv region, air defence destroyed one enemy drone last night, the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration reports.

«On the night of 8 January, the air defence forces and means in Mykolaiv region destroyed one Shahed 131/136 UAV», – the statement said.

In addition, on 7 January at 09:54, Russian troops fired artillery at the coastline and Ochakiv. An infrastructure facility was damaged. There were no casualties.
