The Air Defense Forces successfully shot down eight Russian missiles, while electronic warfare systems downed more than 20 others

On the night and morning of January 13, Russian occupiers launched a missile attack on Ukraine, deploying various types of missiles, including cruise, aeroballistic, ballistic, airborne, anti-aircraft guided missiles, and strike UAVs.

The Ukrainian Air Force provided details on the Air Defense Forces’ actions. In total, more than 30 enemy air attack vehicles were recorded, including:

  • 7 S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Belgorod region
  • 3 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs from the Kursk region
  • 6 X-47M2 «Kinzhal» aeroballistic missiles from six MiG-31K aircraft (launch area – Tambov)
  • Up to 12 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles from 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers (launch area – the Caspian Sea, Russia)
  • 6 X-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 bombers from the Bryansk region
  • 2 X-31P guided missiles from two Su-35 aircraft (launch area – occupied Kherson region)
  • 4 X-59 guided missiles from two Su-34 aircraft (launch area – Bryansk region)

The Air Force, working in coordination with the Air Defense Forces, successfully destroyed:

  • 7 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles
  • 1 X-59 guided missile

The Air Force highlighted that over 20 of the mentioned air attack vehicles, not included in the statistics of those shot down, failed to reach their targets «due to active counteraction by electronic warfare.»

«In addition, the «unparalleled» Russian missiles are becoming increasingly unpredictable and are veering off course! However, this doesn’t diminish the threat they pose; quite the contrary. Therefore, remain vigilant, and do not ignore alarms, especially in the case of «ballistics», — emphasized the Air Force.

As reported earlier, on the morning of January 13, Russian occupants fired a missile at Ukraine. An unexploded missile landed in the yard of a private house in the Kremenchuk district of the Poltava region. Damage and explosions were reported by the heads of Chernihiv and Dnipro regions.
