Houses were shaken so severely that the ceilings simply could not withstand the fastenings — correspondent about the attack on Odesa

On the night of January 17, Russian occupiers launched an attack on Odesa using attack drones. The force of the blast waves, resulting from the downing of the drones by Russian forces, caused ceilings to collapse in some apartments.

This was reported by a correspondent from Odesa, Yulia Afanasyeva, on Hromadske Radio.

«As a consequence of the blast waves, windows were blown out of apartments, and fires broke out in several units. Ceilings also collapsed in certain apartments. The intensity of the blast wave was such that the ceiling fixings simply failed. Some apartments are now uninhabitable, and residents may only be able to return to others later in the evening,» stated the journalist.

As a reminder, on January 16, after 21:42, Russian occupiers targeted Kharkiv twice with S-300 missiles from the direction of Russian Belgorod. The evening shelling resulted in injuries to 17 people. In the Kholodnogorsky district, about 20 apartment buildings had their facades damaged, along with a private medical institution, and 14 cars were destroyed. Inspection and response efforts are ongoing, with rescuers having successfully evacuated 30 people.
