In the occupied Kherson region, Russians are actively involved in issuing passports and force local residents to register for military service.

This was reported by Mykhailo Batrak, a correspondent from Kherson on Hromadske Radio.

«In the occupied segment of the Kherson region, the occupiers are conducting passport issuance and force local residents to register for military service. There is a prevailing belief that this is connected to Russia’s war against Ukraine, suggesting that the occupiers are mobilizing these individuals. This is how they enforce the registration for military service».

He further explained that the Russians justify these actions by claiming it is in accordance with Russian legislation. They consider all residents of the occupied part of the Kherson region to be citizens of the Russian Federation, insisting that they must register for military service.
