The escalation of Russian shelling in Kharkiv has heightened the urgency of the evacuation issue
Some residents of Kharkiv, especially those with children, are contemplating leaving the city due to the increased frequency of rocket attacks. This information was relayed by Anna Chernenko, a correspondent for Hromadske Radio based in Kharkiv.
The evening shelling of Kharkiv on its third occurrence since January 23 utilized modified S-300 missiles. The strikes were launched from the Belgorod region, bordering Kharkiv region. The rapid approach time of these missiles, capable of following a ballistic trajectory, leaves little time for residents to find shelter.
«After a relatively quiet autumn in Kharkiv, it’s disheartening, but citizens have somewhat acclimated to the frequent strikes, and a list of more or less secure areas has been established. However, following such intense shelling, many may reconsider returning to Kharkiv. Some who chose to stay may now opt to leave», — remarked the correspondent.
She anticipates that in the coming days, the extent of evacuation, particularly among families with children, will become apparent as a response to the heightened Russian shelling.
