The lack of funding is impacting not only the U.S.’s ability to send new weapons to Ukraine but also its capacity to assist in repairing previously provided equipment.

This was emphasized by U.S. defense spokesman Patrick Ryder.

«Without additional funding, we cannot supply systems and equipment to meet medium- and long-term needs, or assist in maintaining the systems we have already provided», — stated the Pentagon spokesman, as quoted by the European Pravda.

Ryder also highlighted that without funding, the Pentagon is unable to draw weapons from its own stockpiles, hindering its ability to address Ukraine’s most immediate needs on the battlefield, such as artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, and air defense missiles.

The defense spokesman expressed the Pentagon’s commitment to collaborating with Congress and emphasized the urgency of reaching a swift decision on additional funding.

The White House has previously mentioned that it lacks the funds for new military support to Ukraine until approval is granted by the U.S. Congress. On December 27, the U.S. announced the last military aid package for Ukraine in 2023, valued at $250 million.
