The Security Service of Ukraine has detained 5 Russian agents who were spying for the FSB in three regions of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has apprehended 5 Russian agents, operating in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. Among those detained are an engineer at a defense plant and an official from the city council in the Donetsk region.

This was reported by the agency’s press service.

These agents were conducting reconnaissance on areas with the highest concentration of personnel and military equipment belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in frontline zones. The SBU notes their attempts to identify warehouses containing ammunition and fuel, as well as their interest in the geolocation and operations of industrial facilities repairing heavy weaponry used by Ukrainian troops.

Acting separately for secrecy, the agents were under the oversight of a single curator, an FSB officer whose credentials are now in possession of the SBU. Notably, one of the detainees was an official from a department within a Donetsk region city council. The group also comprised a former head of a local utility company and a resident of Kramatorsk.

Additionally, a process engineer at a defense enterprise in Zaporizhzhia was part of the group, leaking intelligence on military equipment repairs. Another agent worked as an official in a transport company in the Odesa region, collecting information on potential transfers of off-road vehicles to meet the needs of the Armed Forces.

The detainees are currently in custody. They face life imprisonment.
