The newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, expressed gratitude to his comrades-in-arms from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Khortytsia Air Assault and Defence Forces.

On his Telegram page, Syrskyi outlined the tasks ahead in his new position.

He emphasized the need for clear and detailed planning of actions for all military command and control bodies, associations, formations, and units. This planning should consider the frontline’s requirements for the latest weapons supplied by international partners. Syrskyi highlighted the importance of military logistics in swiftly and efficiently distributing everything necessary for combat units.

Syrskyi underscored that knowing the needs of the frontline and being aware of the situation in each area are crucial tasks for headquarters at all levels. He emphasized the critical role of the qualifications of military command and control personnel in the successful implementation of ideas and plans.

The life and health of servicemen were identified as the main values of the Ukrainian army. Syrskyi emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between performing combat missions and restoring units and subunits through intensified education and training of personnel.

Looking towards the future, Syrskyi identified introducing new technical solutions and scaling up successful experiences, including the use of drones and modern electronic warfare, as key vectors in building victory in the liberation war.

He concluded by stating that continuous changes and improvements in the means and methods of warfare are essential for success. Additionally, he stressed the significance of a reliable rear as one of the main components of overall success in the war.

The decision to change the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was announced by Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov on the evening of February 8. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later confirmed the appointment of Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an evening video address.
