Billionaire and inventor Elon Musk has expressed the belief that Russian President Putin is unlikely to lose the war and has voiced his opposition to providing aid to Ukraine.
Musk shared these views with US Republican senators during a discussion at X Spaces, as reported by Bloomberg.
In the debate over the bill aimed at offering further assistance to Ukraine in the face of a full-scale Russian invasion, Musk joined those opposing the measure. He dismissed the commented the words of one speaker who suggested that anticipating victory in Ukraine was living in a «fantasy world», asserting that there was «no chance» Putin could lose the war.
Addressing the issue of US aid to Ukraine, Musk criticized its effectiveness, stating:
«This spending is not helping Ukraine. The continuation of the war does not help Ukraine».
Musk also highlighted the absurdity of accusations that he supports the Russian president, while concurrently acknowledging that pressure exists on Putin to win the war, noting that backing down might lead to dire consequences for him.
«Those advocating for a regime change in Russia should consider who could remove Putin and whether this person would be a peacemaker. Probably not», – Musk remarked.
Last year, Musk faced controversy over his decision not to activate Starlink near Crimea, a situation from 2022 revealed in an excerpt from a biographical book about the billionaire.
