The candidate for the position of Secretary General of the Council of Europe, former President of Switzerland, Alain Berset, has arrived in Kyiv.

As a reminder, there are three candidates for the Secretary General position of the Council of Europe. Alongside Berset, the other candidates include Indrek Saar, an Estonian politician and former head of the Estonian Ministry of Culture, and Didier Reynders, a Belgian and European Commissioner for Justice.
In March, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will conduct interviews with the candidates, finalize the list, and submit it to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Subsequently, the PACE will commence the elections for the next Secretary General, scheduled to take place in June this year.
