EU ambassadors have approved the 13th package of sanctions against Russia
Ambassadors of the European Union member states have given their approval for the 13th package of sanctions against Russia.
This was reported on February 21 by Rikard Jozwiak, Europe editor at Radio Liberty.
Jozwiak shared the news on the social media platform X, stating:
«EU ambassadors have just given green light to the EU’s 13th sanctions package. Should be published just before the 24 feb anniversary».
Earlier, an EU official had commented to the media, noting that the 13th package of sanctions against Russia would primarily include «blacklists.»
«The package is deemed necessary ahead of the two-year anniversary of the full-scale war. Due to time constraints, the EU is suggesting individual sanctions, mirroring the actions of the G7 partners. Concurrently, the European Commission will persist in efforts to implement sectoral sanctions and counteract attempts to circumvent them», — as quoted by Radio Liberty
The European Commission received 245 proposals for new sanctioned persons, with 160 involving companies and individuals linked to the military sector, including drone production, ammunition, and high-tech goods.
In contrast, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock recently mentioned that the 13th package of anti-Russian sanctions from the EU would likely encompass restrictions on drone production.
Additionally, there are reports that following the adoption of the 13th package of sanctions, the European Commission intends to swiftly propose a 14th set of sanctions, potentially involving new import bans.
