In Kyiv, over the two years of the Russian army’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the air raid alarm sounded 989 times. Almost 200 civilians, including six children, were killed.

This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klychko.

Since February 24, 2022, approximately 800 residential buildings in the capital have been damaged, along with 122 educational institutions, 18 healthcare facilities, and 17 social facilities.

«The Kyiv Rescue Service» conducted 156 missions to mitigate the consequences of rocket attacks. Ambulance crews made 1,741 visits to the sites of rocket and drone attacks, providing assistance to 1,034 patients, including 36 children.

Klychko reported that nearly 209,500 internally displaced persons, including approximately 46,000 children, have been registered in Kyiv. During the initial months of the war, over 8,000 Kyiv residents received daily assistance from the Kyiv Humanitarian Centre, which distributed almost 200,000 additional food parcels to internally displaced people and pensioners.

The Humanitarian Centre, supported by more than 150 international partners, played a crucial role in providing aid. During air raid alerts, the Kyiv subway served as a shelter for up to 70,000 residents at a time.

Simultaneously, Klychko highlighted positive efforts amidst the adversity. Over 14,000 trees were planted in Kyiv in the past two years, and during this period, 48,267 couples tied the knot, while 6,476 couples decided to part ways.

Moreover, 36,620 children were born, comprising 18,768 boys and 17,852 girls. Among the newborns, 647 were twins, and 6 were triplets.
