The Russian large amphibious assault ship Yamal has sustained critical damage — HUR
According to Ukraine’s military intelligence, the damage to the Russian large amphibious assault ship Yamal is critical. The vessel, belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, was struck in Sevastopol on the night of March 24th.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine provided details of the damage.
According to the DIU, a hole in the upper deck of the ship caused it to list to starboard. Occupiers are continuously pumping water out of the damaged vessel, which took part in the annexation of Crimea and was undergoing repairs from 2017 to 2023.
On the night of March 24th, the Ukrainian military attacked the 13th ship repair yard of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, where, among other things, the large amphibious assault ships Yamal and Azov were moored.
In addition to the ships, the attackers managed to hit a communications center and several infrastructure facilities of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol.
