The Congress has reached a consensus on providing aid to Ukraine and Israel

US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has announced that the US Congress has reached a «consensus» on swiftly providing aid to Ukraine and Israel.

His statement was reported by ABC News.

Speaking at a press conference in New York, Schumer expressed optimism that action would be taken to assist both countries this week. He emphasized that the most effective way to support Ukraine and Israel is for the House of Representatives to approve a bill, already endorsed by the Senate in February, allocating $95 billion in aid to Kyiv and Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise stated that the House would adjust its schedule this week to «deliberate on legislation backing Israel and holding Iran and its terrorist allies accountable».

However, as per ABC News, the specifics of the proposed legislation and how it differs from the Senate-approved bill remain unclear.

The Senate-approved bill allocates $60 billion in aid to Ukraine. To become law, it must pass through the lower chamber of Congress, the House of Representatives, and be signed by President Joe Biden. However, the majority in the House consists of Republicans, who oppose the enactment of additional aid to Ukraine.
