Most volunteers no longer visit Chasiv Yar due to the main risk posed by artillery and FPV drones targeting civilians.
This was reported by Serhii Chaus, head of the Chasiv Yar city military administration.
In the interview on Hromadske Radio he said:
«At the moment, the city is under control. This is a Ukrainian city, and the occupiers have no place here. People in the city are now living in what can hardly be called «living conditions» because there is no heat, electricity, or water.
Most volunteers no longer enter the city, and this is an indicator. The main risk is artillery and FPV drones targeting civilians».
According to him, 682 people remain in the city.
«Unfortunately, there has been no evacuation in the last 3-4 days. There were no people willing to leave. The main narrative that people carry is that this is their home and their homeland, and they do not want to leave their land. There are no children in the city; the majority of people are 60+, about 70 percent», – Chaus said.
He added that there is not a single surviving multi-storey building in the city. Most of them have been critically damaged, and in the private sector, at least some windows are missing. Shellings are frequent and numerous.
«We’ve been at the peak of shelling for about a month now, and it hasn’t subsided yet, although we would like it to. The maximum number of attacks occurs every day. It is never quiet in the city», – added the head of the Chasiv Yar city military administration.
