Half of the required amount has been allocated for fortifications in Chernihiv Region's border area — correspondent

The construction of fortifications in the border area of Chernihiv Region continues, with over UAH 800 million allocated from the state budget for this purpose.

This was reported by Talina Tarasenko, a correspondent for Hromadske Radio in Chernihiv Region.

She informed that the construction of fortifications is ongoing in the region.

«According to Vyacheslav Chaus, the head of the regional military administration, work on the construction of fortifications is being carried out along the entire section of the state border in Chernihiv Region. The work is divided into two main areas: minefields and the construction of strongholds.

Based on preliminary estimates, the total cost will be approximately UAH 1.5 billion. UAH 804 million has been allocated from the state budget for the construction of fortifications in Chernihiv Oblast, which covers 50 percent of the total need», — the correspondent said.

She further mentioned that there are settlements in the border area constantly subjected to Russian shelling, but it is impossible to confirm that villages have been completely destroyed.

«But we cannot assert that the enemy is only targeting fields or forests. They frequently strike residential buildings, private premises, and businesses, resulting in destruction», — added Talina Tarasenko.
