There are settlements in Chernihiv Region from which residents have completely left — correspondent

The intensity and power of enemy shelling have significantly increased in the border areas of Chernihiv Region, leading to a growing number of evacuations.

This was reported by Talina Tarasenko, a correspondent for Hromadske Radio in Chernihiv region.

She noted that the situation in the border areas of Chernihiv region remained constantly tense. Following the departure of the occupiers from the region’s territory, they began shelling border settlements.

«Over the past few months, the security situation has deteriorated significantly. The enemy targets numerous border settlements daily, and it’s not limited to just small border villages. Even large settlements like the town of Semenivka are under attack. The occupiers are using Grad rockets, launching missiles, and have also started deploying cluster munitions… According to residents themselves, the intensity and frequency of shelling have increased significantly recently», — the correspondent said.

The three border districts of the region – Novhorod-Siverskyi, Koryukivskyi, and Chernihivskyi – are most frequently targeted by enemy fire. As a result of the heightened shelling, more border residents have decided to evacuate.

«It is now known that there are settlements in the region from which the local population has completely evacuated. Half of the residents of the border town of Semenivka have left. In most cases, evacuees stay within their own community, opting not to travel far away», — added Talina Tarasenko.
