Pentagon: The battlefield situation in Ukraine is complicated

The occupying Russian army is actively attempting to advance on the territory of Ukraine, and the situation on the battlefield is currently difficult and worrisome.

This statement was made by US Department of Defense spokesman Pat Ryder.

«The situation on the battlefield in Ukraine is difficult right now. But according to all reports, Ukrainians continue to take measures to protect their territory. We will do everything we can to provide them with the critical weapons and supplies they need», — he was quoted as saying by the EP.

The spokesman emphasized that the US side is currently working diligently to expedite the provision of assistance to Ukraine.

When asked about the factors contributing to the escalation of the situation, Ryder mentioned «a combination of different factors, including the delay in approving the US aid».

«It’s clear that there are other partners around the world who are providing assistance to Ukraine. But the Russians have taken advantage of the situation on the battlefield and are trying to move forward. No matter how small these advances may be, it is certainly a cause for concern», — concluded the Pentagon official.

As reported, amidst the Russian offensive in the northern Kharkiv region, the United States announced an additional military aid package later this week.
