Spain to give Ukraine Patriot missiles and used Leopard tanks

Spain will send Ukraine missiles for Patriot air defense systems and 19 Leopard 2A4 tanks as part of the previously announced aid package.

This is stated in a publication by El Pais, cited by Reuters.

According to the newspaper’s sources, the package will include a dozen Patriot missiles, 19 used German-made Leopard 2A4 tanks, as well as other Spanish-made weapons, including anti-drone weapons and ammunition.

The total value of the package is $1.23 billion. It was approved last month, but it was not disclosed what weapons would be included in the package.

Spokespersons for Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez declined to comment on El Pais’ report.

It is also noted that the new arms supplies will be announced during the official visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Madrid, which is scheduled to take place today, May 27.

Back in March, the media reported that Madrid was preparing a batch of 19 Leopard 2A4 tanks for Kyiv.
