Consequences of the shelling of Kyiv for the energy sector. What is currently known?

DTEK Executive Director Dmytro Sakharuk discussed the impact on the energy sector on Hromadske Radio:

«We have a lot of destruction. Regarding Okhmatdyt, there were two substations on the hospital grounds, both of which are completely destroyed. The entire hospital infrastructure was powered by these substations. Yesterday, we promptly helped to install mobile transformer substations to temporarily supply power to critical hospital areas. They operated on generators yesterday to power certain rooms.

We have now established a more permanent solution, at least without the generators. We will assess whether we need to restore the substations and much of the equipment, as it was essential for the hospital’s infrastructure. This decision will be made in coordination with local authorities.»

As a reminder, today, July 9, has been declared a day of mourning. As of this morning, the death toll in Kyiv is 27, with 117 injured.

Additionally, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting today regarding the Russian shelling of the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv.
