30,000 residents remain in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Region
As of today, 30,000 people live in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Region, and 42,000 in the surrounding community. This was announced by the head of the Pokrovsk Military-Civilian Administration, Serhiy Dobryak, in a statement to the publication My Pokrovsk.
According to him, there are still 1,565 children in the city and almost 2,200 in the Pokrovsk community.
Meanwhile, about 2,000 children have been evacuated from the Pokrovsk community over the past two weeks, according to local authorities. As the Russians approach the town, residents are once again being urged to evacuate.
Earlier, military correspondent Anna Kalyuzhna reported on Hromadske Radio that Pokrovsk was preparing for evacuation. Cosmetics and household appliances stores are leaving the city, while small grocery stores remain open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pokrovsk has a curfew outside of these hours.
The Pokrovsk sector is currently the most intense area on the frontline. The Russians are less than 10 kilometers away from Pokrovsk. Both Ukrainian artillery fire and enemy artillery strikes can be heard in the city. The Russians have also seized the defense lines between Avdiivka and Pokrovsk.
According to Serhiy Dobryak, the pace of evacuation from the Pokrovsk community has increased. Two weeks ago, about 600 people were leaving the area every day; now, the number is about 2,000 a day. Half of the residents have already left Pokrovsk itself.
As a reminder, Russian forces have seized Ukrainian defense lines between the previously occupied Avdiivka and Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. At the same time, Pokrovsk is being evacuated as the Russians advance.
