Ukraine and Ireland signed a bilateral agreement
Ukraine and Ireland have signed a security agreement to support Ukraine and enhance cooperation between the two countries.
This was reported by the Office of the President.
«Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ireland has provided Ukraine with humanitarian, stabilization, and non-lethal military aid amounting to approximately 380 million euros.«
This year, Ireland has pledged to allocate 128 million euros to Ukraine for non-lethal military support. At least 40 million euros will be allocated for humanitarian aid.
Ireland will also supply demining systems and explosive ordnance disposal equipment. Dublin will continue its participation in the demining coalition. Additionally, Ireland is exploring other potential avenues of support within the Defense Contact Group’s capability coalitions. This includes the IT Coalition.
Moreover, Dublin will ensure the ongoing training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the EU Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM) in Ukraine.
Separate sections of the agreement outline provisions for humanitarian aid, support for recovery, and the implementation of reforms. Particularly reforms in relation to Ukraine’s path toward EU membership. Ireland will also contribute to holding the Russian Federation accountable. Dublin wants to ensure compensation for damages caused by aggression, and further strengthening sanctions against Russia.
«Dublin has pledged to continue diplomatic efforts to implement the ‘peace formula’ and participate in various working groups and the execution of specific elements of the formula. This includes work within the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.«
As noted by the President’s Office, Ukraine has now concluded 26 bilateral agreements to implement the G7 Joint Declaration adopted in Vilnius on July 12, 2023.
It is worth recalling that at the July NATO summit in Vilnius in 2023, the leaders of the G7 agreed on a Joint Declaration supporting Ukraine. The countries stated that each of them would work with Ukraine on specific bilateral long-term commitments and agreements in the field of security. Ukraine, in turn, has committed to undertaking necessary reforms.
